Core Features and Enhancements

• New 3D Model Viewer: A significant update that provides a separate, high-performance, and modeless window for viewing selected objects in 3D. This viewer is much more responsive than the old Object Viewer and allows you to view changes in real time, making it easier to navigate and review complex designs.

• Drainage Analysis (Technical Preview): This is a new toolset that integrates Civil 3D's drainage design environment with cloud-hosted analysis services. It allows you to model and analyze drainage elements like ponds, channels, and underground storage systems directly within Civil 3D, and the cloud-based analysis provides a more powerful and efficient way to validate designs.

• Enhanced Data Shortcuts for Surfaces: Civil 3D 2026 makes working with large surfaces much more efficient. You can now reference only a specific part of a surface by defining a polyline boundary. This reduces the size of your drawing and improves overall performance by not having to load the entire surface data.

• Dynamo for Civil 3D Improvements: Dynamo has been updated with new nodes, particularly for drainage areas, which can be used to automate repetitive tasks and increase the efficiency of drainage analysis workflows. There's also a new FeatureLine.ByPoints node for creating feature lines from a set of Dynamo points.

• Project Explorer Enhancements for Rail Modeling: The Project Explorer now includes new values for managing rail curves based on speed, curvature, and "cant" (the elevation difference between rails). This provides a more comprehensive and accurate way for railway designers to analyze and manage their projects.

• Improved Coordinate System Transformation: The tool for changing the coordinate system of objects in your drawings has been enhanced for better accuracy, which helps to reduce rework and minimize errors.

• Performance Improvements: The software has general performance enhancements that make common tasks like regenerating corridors and editing pipe networks execute faster, leading to a boost in productivity.
