Here are the key features and enhancements in Revit 2026:
Accelerated Graphics (Tech Preview): This is perhaps the most significant update. Revit 2026 introduces a new graphics engine that leverages your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to dramatically improve performance.
What it does: It makes panning, orbiting, and zooming in 2D and 3D views much smoother and more responsive, especially with large, complex models. This addresses a long-standing user request for better GPU utilization.
Status: It's a "Tech Preview," meaning it's still being developed, but early tests show a significant improvement in navigation speeds.
Faster Loading & Operations: General performance improvements lead to faster installation, launch, and opening of large projects. Background processes handle more tasks without interrupting your work.
Saved Positions on Sheets: This highly-requested feature allows you to save a view's position on a sheet and reuse it across multiple sheets. This ensures consistent view placement, saving significant time on large documentation sets. You can align views by their origin or a specific anchor point.
Create Walls by Room/Segment: New tools allow you to automatically generate walls by selecting a room's perimeter or an existing wall segment. This is especially useful for quickly creating finish walls, core walls, or for early-stage design.
In-Canvas Spell-Check: Revit now includes real-time spell-check functionality within text notes and annotations, reducing typos and improving documentation quality.
Enhanced Sheet Lists & Schedules: You can now include more information in your sheet lists, such as sheet width, height, and scale. This makes it easier to create detailed drawing registers.
Custom Title Block Scale: A new override option allows you to manually define the scale text on a title block, providing flexibility for sheets that contain views of different scales.
Toposolid Enhancements: The Toposolid tool, introduced in Revit 2024, receives major upgrades.
Recessed Subdivisions: You can now create subdivisions with negative depth, making it possible to accurately model recessed areas like roads, walkways, or ponds.
Copy/Paste: You can now copy and paste shape editing points and lines for toposolids, floors, and roofs, speeding up the creation of complex surfaces.
Better Civil 3D Interoperability: Accuracy when linking Civil 3D data from Autodesk Docs is improved.
Compound Structure Flexibility: A significant modeling change is the ability to create compound walls, floors, and roofs without a core layer. This allows for greater flexibility when modeling finish-only layers or non-structural elements without using workarounds.
Custom Layer Priority: You can now manually assign a join priority to layers in a compound structure, giving you finer control over how layers join and wrap at corners.
Manage Imported CAD Files: The "Manage Links" dialog now lists imported CAD files (DWG, DGN, SKP, etc.), giving you a centralized location to track and manage all external references.
Enhanced Coordination Model: When linking coordination models from Autodesk Docs, you now have precise control over the visibility and color of individual categories within the linked model, making clash detection and coordination clearer.
Improved IFC Linking: Performance and placement accuracy when linking IFC files have been improved.
Structural:
Parametric Rebar Cranking: Model complex, cranked rebar shapes parametrically to avoid clashes in congested areas.
Point-to-Point Steel Modeling: A new option allows for more precise and clean modeling of steel elements without setbacks.
Operating System: 64-bit Microsoft® Windows® 11 or Windows 10 version 1809 or later.
Processor (CPU): Intel® or AMD® processor with a 2 GHz or higher base core clock speed. Autodesk emphasizes that a higher single-core clock speed is recommended, as Revit uses multiple cores for many tasks.
Memory (RAM): 16 GB
Note: This is considered sufficient for a typical editing session on a single model up to approximately 300 MB on disk.
Video Display: Minimum resolution of 1280 x 1024 with true color.
Video Adapter (GPU):
A display adapter capable of 24-bit color.
A DirectX® 11 capable graphics card with Shader Model 5.
Minimum of 4 GB of video memory.
Disk Space: 30 GB of free disk space for installation.
.NET Framework: .NET 8.
